My late grandmother fought breast cancer many years ago. She had to have a masectomy of one of her breasts and lived that way for the rest of her life. She just passed this last Christmas of a heart attack, but she was a wonderful woman. Our entire family misses her dearly. She told wonderful stories about her life and the struggles she faced growing up. I am so grateful breast cancer did not take her from us too soon and we were able to enjoy 10+ years w/her before her passing.

My aunt has survived breast cancer. She had to have a mastectomy on one of her breasts. But she is still doing strong and the cancer has not returned. She lives everyday to the fullest.

I had a wonderful Pink Power woman in my life but unfortunately her life was cut short last July when she lost her battle against breast cancer. My mother-in-law was a wonderful woman. She was married to a Naval Senior Chief Petty Officer for 23 years and was the mother of 9 children 6 of whom were adopted including my husband. She was a very strong woman and is missed dearly.

Please don't forget to nominate on the national level too (linked in the post). I can honestly and happily say, I know no one and I feel for each of you in your personal stories of your Pink Power Moms.

I don't know anyone who has had breast cancer, but my grandmother died of cancer. She first had it in her stomach and they removed 3/4 of it and her spleen. within 2 1/2 years it was back ALL OVER. In her tailbone, and it kept spreading. Eventually we think it was to her brain as she started getting a lump there. She passed away after 6 months of suffering.

I miss her dearly and would give anything to have her back right now.

Very heartfelt stories from all of you. My father was diagnosed with colon cancer four year's ago and is still in remission. He was lucky as he waited way too long to go in but he survived. I have others in the family who have died of colon cancer and my great grandmother had breast cancer but my mom couldn't remember what ultimately led to her death.

If you entered the national level, I hope you win! I forgot to tell you that you were suppose to mention my blog if you entered but it's not about me winning a prize or anything. This is for remembering/honoring a special mom so best of luck to you all!

I will be announcing the winner of the Bright Starts prize but the prize doesn't ship until October.
