I truly feel there is no better gift in this life than children. I live my entire life for mine and will have been raising children just about my entire adult life prior to retirement. I started over again as so many others do. I have a 22 year old, a seven and a three year old so that's a pretty good age gap but I wouldn't change one thing. To think that I had the wonderment blessing to experience three wonderful children through so many years is beyond comprehension for me. I love the fact that I get to spoil my children in every facet while still raising polite, giving and mindful ones. My children think I'm the best mommy ever and it's due to many reasons I feel. Not only because I buy them the world as I do know when to say no and for the most part, they have always accepted a no although the three year old may need some convincing that no means no at times. I have also learned the fine line of being a parent and a friend.
Friending your children, to me, is the number one relationship to have in order to open a door of trust. It may not always work but for my oldest it did. She was never one to get involved with the alcohol, drugs or sex at school and I'm very fortunate for that. I hope that this road of friendship preservers with my other two. I think taking the time to play or interact with them shows the dual relationship of a parent and as a friend to them and this is yet another reason why they adore me. I'm not a hands off parent whereas I try to find things for us to do as a family whether it's planning a family fun movie night, planning mega birthday parties, cooking dinner, making crafts or volunteering time for our non-profit organization to help other children with epilepsy. I think all these activities proves my love for them without them realizing it. The beauty with children is they give you unconditional love and you give it back.
Between the time I spend with them, the extra steps I take to make things special, the activities we partake in and just the genuine love and affection I show them, I feel it's why my kids think I'm an amazing mom. I know that I'm not perfect and I do make mistakes but they are the first to forgive me and overlook them. They make me who I am and I hope I'm making them who they are now and in the future. My mom definitely shaped me to be the mother I am today. My mom made many mistakes but she also did things right. I was able to take the best and the worse and learn from them. That's why Mother's Day is so important to me as it's my day to say thank you to my mom for being my mom but also allowing me to be a mom. I'm the sort of person who has to find the perfect card and I just can't pick out any card as the words have to be true and precise. Tiny Prints' Mother's Day Cards has a variety of choices for any type of person or sentiment. For me, I enjoy sending photo cards to add that extra personalization and with the digital age, I don't think that physical pictures are sent that often so a paper version is always a nice surprise.
