Fruit and Fun with the Girls

Today, I wanted to try to get the girls inspired into eating something a bit more wholesome for them so I remembered fruit pizza.  Although not entirely healthy since it uses sugar cookie dough and sugar in the cream cheese, I did compromise and use organic sugar.  Organic sugar is healthier since it has been processed and refined.  I try to opt for organic sugar in all my recipes.  We used bananas, blueberries, strawberries and kiwi.  Although Jamie is not a fruit eater, Danielle is and she loved them. 

I think it's essential to teach children early about cooking and getting back to some simpler things in life.  I don't want them growing up and always eating processed packaged foods or fast food.  I also balance it so they won't go hog wild when they are older.  Everything should be in moderation is my opinion.  This is such a quick and easy recipe and fun for the kids to make since all it is is cookie dough, cream cheese mixed with 1/3 cup of sugar and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract followed with fresh fruit on top.  Brushing on orange juice or lemon juice prevents the fruit from going brown.
