You end up being more like a single parent and have a new life ahead of you as it's up to carry forward alone. Everyone always hears of the great stories of the reunion post deployment but often times, those "after" times are the hardest. Learning to cope with one another again, adjusting to no longer being the sole decision maker and everything else that goes along with being alone for a year or more to being back together can plague a family. I listened to a women's group at a military installation tell what it's like before, during and after deployments and I related to them all because I've been there. It's hard.

My brother and sister in-law's condo was burglarized last summer. It was done during the day while most people are at work. They kicked in the back door. They took all their valuable things like laptops, video games, TV, and jewelry. My brother and sister-in-law had some really nice things. I think the hardest thing for my sister in-law was when she came home from work and saw her home ransacked. The thought that someone had been in her living space, in her home, looking through all her belongings and taking them really bothered her. The hardest loss for her was that they took jewelry that had been her great grandmother's. They also took the watch that her husband had given her on their wedding day. It had an inscription on the inside. Thankfully no one was harmed. All of these possessions can be replaced; I can only imagine what could have happened if she had come home for lunch and walked in on the burglars. My sister in-law didn't feel safe staying in her home for several days. She told my brother that she would not stay there until there was a adt home security Mass installed and working. It helped her feel better. It gives her comfort when she comes home from work and when she sleeps at night.

Purex UltraPacks Liquid Laundry Detergent
What is also great about Purex UltraPacks Liquid Laundry Detergent, is they dissolve quickly and even in cold water which is wonderful as I wash most everything in cold. I do reserve whites and linens for the extra sanitary hot water but I don't want to pull out my clothes washed in cold water to see detergent left behind which I do not see with the Purex UltraPacks. They are also good for all washers to include mine which is a high-efficiency (HE).
I can't say anything I don't like about the UltraPacks. I love the convenience and since I'm already used to pack formulations with the dishwasher, it was not hard to use. You just have to remember to have dry hands. You should place the UltraPack in the washer first to let it dissolve as much as possible before adding the clothes. If you have a large load or heavily soiled, you might need two. In the case of my front loader, it's important to place inside the machine and not in the detergent shelf. They work and they really did make the clothes smell nice and look great!

One can only imagine all the thoughts she had going through her mind with removing all the responsibilities she has being the parental role in that house. Not only would that be a huge factor in her decision but she also has to struggle with what she would leave behind. Although burdensome, she is the glue that keeps this family together. I can't blame her at all. It would be easy to take that route but at the end of the day when you know others are depending on you, it's a no brainer. If Steve truly loved her, he would understand that it's not even an option for her. Have you ever been in a love over family situation where it would appear that love would be the easy way out but family's love trumps?

Once again, Baby K’tan Baby Carrier Teams up with Operation Shower to Honor Expectant Military Moms! I love this program so I wanted to share the press release (see below).
Expectant military moms will receive the baby shower they deserve, along with the unique Baby K’tan Baby Carrier, at the first three upcoming 2012 events hosted by Operation Shower.
Through Operation Shower and generous donors such as Baby K’tan, LLC, military moms-to-be are recognized and honored for their sacrifices. These companies partner to organize baby showers for expecting families in the armed services.

Operation Shower has honored more than 400 families and hosted 12 unit-wide showers for the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and National Guard. Baby K’tan LLC, founded by two families raising children with special needs, devotes a percentage of its proceeds to the American Heart Association, the National Down Syndrome Society and a number of local charities in addition to their new partnership with Operation Shower.
General Mills Frosted Toast Crunch Cereal Prize Pack Giveaway 1/30

Mamavation & Chicago
There is just something about Chicago that I find so beautiful at night! I grew up near Chicago and have so many fond memories. Of course, I could focus on the not so fondness memories but I think it's healthier to stay focused on the good. Now that I've finished my first week of the new year, I didn't lose any weight but I gained. I gained in that my focus is on healthy and I'm still learning to not eat out of anger, sadness or stress. I've gained a lot over the last year and for that, myself and my girls have benefited.
Last night, for example, the girls asked for almonds. Big deal to some but almonds are great for you. They could have asked for chocolate or cookies but they asked for almonds. My four year old hijacked my apple on Saturday. They ask for salads now and for being four and eight, I'm very proud because it's been my influence that has shaped them. My 23 year old is in Georgia and she took what I have been focusing on over the last year and has incorporated it into her lifestyle. I wasn't always a mom who focused on healthy eating and chose convenience mostly. Single moms who work full time have trouble keeping it balanced if they were not raised or shifted to the healthy culture as how I was.
All has changed and I'm rearing to go. After I write this, I will run my two miles and then proceed with continuing my healthy mamavation challenges of being the best that I can be.
