Breakstone's Red Velvet Cake

Prep Time: 15 min. | Total Time: 1 hr. 15 min. | Makes: 16 servings

WHAT YOU NEED

1	pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened, divided
1-1/2	cups BREAKSTONE'S Sour Cream
2	egg whites
1	pkg. (2-layer size) red velvet cake mix
1/3	cup butter, softened
1/2	tsp. vanilla
2	cups powdered sugar

MAKE IT

HEAT oven to 350°F.

BEAT 2 oz. cream cheese and sour cream in large bowl with mixer until blended. Add egg whites and cake mix; mix well. Pour into 2 (9-inch) round pans sprayed with cooking spray. Bake 30 min. or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 min.; remove from pans. Cool completely.

MEANWHILE, beat remaining cream cheese, butter, vanilla and sugar with mixer until well blended. Refrigerate.

FILL and frost cake layers with frosting.

Not a Drum Set!

I'm in trouble ... big trouble. My seven year old wants a DeRosa by Bridgecraft Child Drum Set with Seat, Sticks & Cymbal DRM 312 - RED. I wasn't going to buy one for Christmas but we were just laying down and I asked her if she could believe that it was almost time for Christmas. In such excitement, she rubbed her hands together and said, 'I can't wait to get my drum set.' It was at that point that I realized I was going to let her down big time by not getting it.

I'm a sucker and can't say no so it looks like I'll be stocking up on the Excedrins too!

Remember the 1976 miniseries titled Rich Man, Poor Man? I barely remember it but didn't know much about it until now. Based on the best seller by Irwin Shaw, it detailed the lives of two impoverished German immigrant brothers from 1945 until the late 1960's. There were 12 episodes starring Peter Strauss, Nick Nolte, Susan Blakely, Bill Bixby and many other celebrities. The series received many nominations and awards.

Rich Man, Poor Man was one of the first mini-series created for television. The lives of Rudy (Peter) and Tom (Nick) detail the seemingly typical storylines of jealousy, conflict and heartbreak. It also ended up being the second highest rated series in 1976-1977. The show tried new techniques in television that endured their time to current mini-series such as hiring numerous guest stars to add to their relatively unknown leads. They also utilized real time events such as the Korean War to add to the realism of the mini-series.

It's a good mini-series to see and it's fun to see some of the now older celebrities when they were younger. This would be a great gift too!

La-Tweez ( @LaTweez ) Professional Tweezers Review

Have you found that perfect pair of tweezers that you cannot live without? It might seem odd for some that aren't used to using tweezers but a good pair of tweezers makes the difference when plucking your eyebrows or any other facial hair. I have tried the cheaper brands and ever was satisfied with them mostly because they didn't have a good grasp and would cause more pain than what they were worth. I was a steady Revlon user for years and even recommended them to my father who agreed they were amazing. I had a chance to purchase La-Tweez Professional Tweezers at a discount price and even bought a pair for my dad. He's 73 so he's not going to care they have a blingy stone on them.

These are not any ordinary pair of tweezers as they come with a mirror, a light, crystallized swarvoski element on switch, automatic timed shut off all encased in a small, attractive carrying case. These are professional quality tweezers which means they don't hurt as bad when plucking, or at least for me they don't.

They have a variety of other products that I have not tried but I wanted to share my experience with La-Tweez and definitely recommend them if you are looking for a great pair of tweezers.

Battle Machines RC Laser Combat Tag cars are the ultimate in remote control awesome fun. No matter if you have boys or girls or even big boys, the Battle Machines are a fun gift for the holiday. We received the complimentary pack that included the Silverado versus Mustang and it lives up to the hype you see in commercials if you have seen them. This is not just an ordinary remote control set up but a laser tag version that allows the users to have much more fun trying to chase each other down to shoot their laser at the rear of the other vehicle to disable it and win. The first and second hits halts the opponent vehicle and it will rumble with loud sounds. The next hit disables it thus making one of the players a winner.

Both vehicles are made to match their full size counter part and look great down to each detail. They are easy to use and run on standard batteries. They are little powerhouses and can run on many different surfaces. What I also liked was the fact that it made the kids get up and move since they were wanting to win. Have more than two kids? The vehicles can battle against one another up to six vehicles total.

Each twin pack comes with the following: 2 full function Licensed, high performance radio control vehicles 1:16 Scale. Two varieties. (a) ‘69 Camaro vs. ‘06 Mustang (b) ‘99 Silverado Dooley vs. ‘06 Mustang, Laser Canon/Sensors, Digital Voice Warnings, Explosive Sound Effects, Rumbling Motions, Power Meter which displays how many hits the car has taken, and 27/49 Tri Band Technology.

My only cons were they require eight batteries and they run out quickly so having rechargeable ones are the way to go. The second con is slip cover to protect the antennae comes off easy which having one that stayed on would be nice but definitely not a deal breaker.

Overall, this is a great gift for any kid or adult that likes cars/trucks. They were fast moving, mobile over many surfaces and just created so much fun for the kids.
