To increase self-esteem in any child, a person has to operate from the following premises:

All babies are born good
All babies need protection from harm and danger
All children have the right to be loved

To increase self-esteem parents and children must be aware of the outside influences and pressures children face, such as:

Peer Pressure
Performing well in School
Drugs and Alcohol
Saying No, to Sex and Drugs
Experimentation with sex and drugs.
Rejection, ridicule by peers
Desire to fit into the group, can’t have a different opinion
Peer pressure to conform; can’t be different.
Need to be popular
Need to have/ wear the latest style in clothes
Need to have free money
Need to look beautiful/be thin
Desire to behave as one’s peers/engage in risky behavior such as oral sex.

Parents have worries and concerns about their children. If their children have good self-respect and high self-esteem these worries will be reduced.

Child being sexually active
Child contracting sexually transmitted disease
A girl, getting pregnant
Contracting HIV
Financial needs being met
Financing College

Adolescence is a difficult time for both adolescents and parents. The problems will be reduced where there:

Is good communication
An extended family
Are supportive friends
Is prayer or spiritual time for the family
Is social or family time.

Baked Pork with Grapes and Devo Olive Oil's Basil EVOO

This weekend I wanted to prepare a pork recipe that is from Italy but I made some slight variations. I love this recipe as the grapes provide a slight sweetness and is not overpowering. The Devo Oil EVOO Basil oil is amazing and I just love fresh rosemary. This recipe seems tedious but it's really not and it's well worth the wait as it's very tender and full of great flavors.

Baked Pork with Grapes

Ingredients

1 pork loin
2 twigs rosemary
40 grapes (red or green or combined)
1 teaspoon salt
Fresh black pepper
Half cup of Devo Oil Basil EVOO
Glass of white wine

Preheat oven to 480

Cut the rosemary, mix well with fresh black pepper and salt.
Rub the pork loin rigorously all over with this mixture.
Place in baking dish drizzling the meat with the Devo Oil Basil EVOO and bake for 20 minutes
While the meat is in the oven, cut the grapes in half (remove seeds if not using seedless) and mix the grapes with a little of the basil EVOO, salt and pepper and let marinate for 20 minutes.
After 20 minutes in the oven, turn the temperature to 320 and add the grapes and glass of wine.
Cook an additional 40 minutes and baste the pork periodically.

I usually serve this main entree with roasted potatoes with fresh rosemary and more Devo Oil Basil EVOO. It's a favorite in my house.

First Time Right with Cascade Platinum & Instagram Contest to Win Dishwashers and Make Over - 6/30 #sp

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

We all know that cleaning is usually not high on a list of favorite priorities but it's something that has to be done. When I clean, I want to do it right the first time and I want to be sure I'm really get a clean final product. Washing dishes is no exception as I want dishes I can trust will be sanitary and removed from the dishwasher clean and streak and residue free. I long ago turned to Cascade as my branded favorite and have never found anything to compare. What's the point of having to pre-wash dishes or having to remove all the grease before loading the dishwasher? I have now switched to new Cascade Platinum and am very pleased especially since it has the same power of Dawn in removing grease as it's what I use as my liquid soap for those small jobs that need a quick clean up.

Cascade Platinum can even remove dried food left on dishes for 24 hours. This is great because we don't always have enough dishes to run a load so the dishwasher can sit for a 24 hour period before needing to run. One of the other most important features I prefer Cascade is the lack of hard water deposits. Our water is extremely hard and Cascade is the only detergent I have found that keeps me dishes clear and clean and ready to serve.

As a blogger, I sometimes takes pictures of my meals so having presentable dishes is paramount to the success of my photos. I also like that my dishwasher comes out looking as clean as my dishes. I remember with other detergent brands opening my dishwasher only to see food particles and residue remaining which does not leave me feeling good about the quality of cleaning for my dishes.
