Embracing a Healthy Family: What do you wish you’d known at 13?

What do you wish you’d known at 13?

Ever wished you could go back in time and change things based on what you know now?  There are some aspects I wished I had such as wearing moisturizer early, avoiding over exposure to the sun and avoiding what I saw in magazines and television.  Growing up from an early age and increasing substantially in my current age, our society's attention on a woman's worth to her body size is incomprehensible.  It worries me to see this constant bombardment of size 0 women with breast implants plastered on everything we see.  If it's not an advertisement, it's a movie, it's a TV show, it's everywhere and it's ruining everyone's perspective on what normal should be.  Dove, who has a campaign dealing directly with girls and self-esteem, is so important to me because they are teaching the right message.

Girls today are forced at an early age to think that it's desirable to be underweight all for the sake of vanity.  Every product from cosmetics to alcohol to cars to tires all use sex to sell.  I am a hypocrite because I applaud advertisement agencies who push the man as the sex object in their commercials just because it's about time!  What I like about Dove is they are showing beauty is inside and it's not about being what others feel is perfect.  Dove is turning to healthy promotion versus misconceived ideals through advertisements of women who are of a healthy weight.  I applaud Dove and fully support their efforts!

Share your message and maybe inspire another girl here.

*Disclosure:  I wrote this post in complete support of the Dove Self-Esteem Campaign and I also received a weekend kit.
