Embracing a Healthy Family: Mamavation Monday

Mamavation Monday

MamavationI've finally had some good weeks with getting healthier.  I'm trying to stay away from the "I'm dieting" sentence as this is truly a need to change a life style.  Three week's ago, I challenged my family to join me in getting to this weight reduction/getting healthier mode and they have joined me.  Although there is one, my mom, who isn't committed, the others are.

In total, we lost over 23 pounds in the three weeks since we started so I'm very happy.  I've been using the Slim-Fast plan to help with counting and controlling my calories mostly because I can still choose healthy snacks and a healthy dinner comprised of vegetables and lean protein.

I still have a way to go with my goals but I'm making progress again.  The fit attention has moved into my young daughters which is good.  I want them to focus on healthy versus being fat or chubby.  They are neither but I don't ever want to have any attention, especially at their impressionable ages, to worry about their appearance in that manner.

This was our weigh in day photos of just messing around, having fun and not sitting around watching TV.

I've also been MIA but plan to kick it into gear.  The holidays will be tough but I will get here.  I'm down 11 pounds over the past three weeks and plan to finish my goals by the end of the year in terms of the weight I want to be.  The other goal is a life time goal of being healthy.

Wow! 11 pounds in three weeks? WTG! Keep up the good work. I, too, have been trying to change my thinking. This is a lifestyle, not a diet, right?

Your kiddos are adorable. :)

Thank you Laura, Katie & FabBecky! I think the biggest part in getting healthier accomplishment so far is seeing the impact I have on my children. My oldest, 23, wants to get healthier for her baby. My eight year old is wanting to get healthier versus "lose weight." Not that she needs to lose weight and I'm glad she sees it as a health issue to eat right versus being skinny. My naturally petite thin one, Danielle, isn't there but she will be as she's only 4 and I'm working on it. :)
