Our Jolly Time Popcorn After School Snack

A couple of year's ago, I was one of those busy moms trying to do it all.  I did the whole pick my daughter up from school to spare her the school bus ride given all the horror stories of mean kids.  Two year's prior, my middle daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy so I knew the importance of not letting her go long without eating and of course, at school, their eating schedule is not based on the child's time.  As I thought I was being a good mom, I would high tail it to the closest fast food restaurant after school to satisfy that immediate hunger.  It wasn't too long later that I started noticing my little girl was turning a bit pudgy and knew it was time for some sensible snacking.  My ideal snack is one of low calories that will satisfy that rumbly in the tumbly yet not fill them up so there is room for dinner.  My girls never object to Jolly Time Popcorn for a quick snack, movie night or when traveling since hotels are equipped with microwave ovens.

What is even nicer about Jolly Time Popcorn is the variety such as 100-calorie Healthy Pop varieties including one of my favorites, sweet and salty as well as my girls' favorites, rich Butter Flavor.  Our complimentary sample boxes not only helped to squash those after school hunger pains but also went pretty well during our family fun night as you can see in the picture above of my middle child devouring a whole bag with her niece.

My Review:

I have tried it and can honestly say I like it better than my existing service which is through Vonage.  I like the ease of set up, the ability to have three ways to connect and not have to worry about having to have my phone modem connected to the wireless internet modem which limits many possibilities for a phone and fax set up.  With netTALK, I just used my existing WiFi.  My area wasn't quite in the system but that wasn't a problem as I am able to just use my existing number.  I also had crystal clear sound and no interruptions.

Since you get a free year of service, it's really a great deal priced at $64.95 plus tax.  It's available at Target Stores as I can vouch for that since I just saw it at my local Target.  It's also available at other leading retailers.  

Recommend or Not Recommend?  I would definitely recommend it.

netTALK also has a new and free Android App (works on most Android devices) that provides Free Calling throughout the US and Canada with the option to add low-cost international TALK credits to make calls from anywhere to anywhere in the world (with cell phone / WiFi service) without running up cell phone minutes or roaming charges. Great for traveling and keeping in touch with family and friends abroad! The app is available free at www.nettalk.com  and at Google Play.

George Rogers Clark Memorial in Indiana

Every state has its own treasures and it's fun to find them.  I have lived in many states but my favorite will be Indiana given the amount of time I have called Indiana home.  I was born there, raised there, spend most of my adult hood there and am looking forward to calling it home again.  Part of my family makes Indiana their home as well.  My parents and sister live in southern Indiana and my brother lives in northern Indiana.  Northern Indiana is special to me because I grew up there but southern Indiana is also special due to many memories.  A few week's ago, I was able to visit my family and my usual trek includes stopping at some of the sites such as the George Rogers Clark Memorial.  

 

 

 

 

This national park site was built in 1936, if memory serves me correctly, and pays homage to a man who should be celebrated and remembered more.  George Rogers Clark was a trailblazer fighting for our country during a time where we were still building our country.  He was involved in many battles and took back Fort Sackville from the British.  He's the overlooked brother of the other infamous Clark.

I love Indiana history and could go on and on but I won't.  I wanted to share our pictures.  The girls had so much fun visiting.  The one thing I will note, we went to a park that had plaques and one was incorrect in it's information of George Rogers Clark by imprinting his name incorrectly.  One would think that historical markers could be accurate especially when that person was so monumental to the area.

Back to School with Milk Unleashed Four Pack Giveaway 9/15 - US

It is back to school time and I was surprised to find out some kids don't go back until September which is how it was when I was a kid way, way back then.  When the kids are outside of our reach, we aren't always sure they are making the best choices.  Granted schools are stepping up to the plate and eliminating bad choices such as soda but some choices just aren't available.  I've even heard of some schools eliminating chocolate milk.  I think that's stretching it as I feel milk provides a great source of Vitamin D and whether it's chocolate or white, it shouldn't be limited. I do love technology and the idea of taking milk on the go as I am a milk drinker as evident by the purchase of two gallons every week.  My family is a family of milk drinkers as well which makes me happy as I am not an advocate of giving kids soda routinely.  Milk Unleashed has this cool app (see below) that has on-the-go games and snacks, milk unleashed tips and a quiz to test your knowledge.





Not all kids like milk as my sister was one of them and my youngest is starting to relike it.  She was a milk hound as a child but great out of it until lately.   This app has some great tips on trying to get your kid to drink more milk as who doesn't need more calcium in their diet?  Here are just a few:

• Change the color with food coloring as we all know kids love colored food!
• Use milk in oatmeal instead of water.  I always make my oatmeal this way because it tastes richer and is creamier.  
• Add a spoon of honey for those honey fans out there.
• Make a smoothie with a glass of milk and their favorite fruit.
