More and more products are coming to market that address gluten and people’s intolerance by offering gluten free products.   Many people are gluten intolerant and have celiac disease.  Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley and rye and can produce symptoms such as abdominal pain, gas, bloating and diarrhea in those that are intolerant.  A growing number of people already were intolerant and others are new cases since more attention has been given to this condition.  Thankfully for those that are and who loves Bisquick, Bisquick has introduced a new gluten free baking mix.

As part of my participation in the latest MyBlogSpark campaign, I received this terrific prize pack of Bisquick Gluten Free Baking Mix, a very handy pancake container that has a small tip to pour and store left over mix, a silicone spatula and a cast iron mini pancake pan.  I have to say that I LOVE them all!  The container is perfect as my three year old is a pancake hound and with the bottle, I can have it ready on the spot for a quick snack or breakfast.   In terms of taste, there was no difference due to the gluten free aspect and in fact, it tasted really good.  We both ate some and we’ve already been back to the box three times since receiving the gift pack.  

 

The texture and taste of each pancake was perfect.  I followed the recipe on the box but I usually add a little vanilla extract to my pancakes.  They cooked nicely and the silver dollar size are perfect for little ones.  I’m sold on Bisquick Gluten Free and would purchase it when I run out of this box.

Peach Mango, Mixed Berry, Banana Colada and Strawberry Banana are all flavors that taste great in a smoothie.  It can be time consuming to make your own smoothies or you can spend a lot of money and buy one.   Another choice is to pick up a Chiquita Smoothie at your local store and make your own great tasting, made with real fruit and for a cost of less than $1 per serving smoothie.  Chiquita Smoothies are all natural, antioxidant rich and offers 100% vitamin C.

I was provided complimentary free Chiquita Smoothies, coupons and t-shirts and wanted to not only share in my opinion of the Chiquita Smoothies but I wanted to share with my readers.  For my review, I tried the Peach Mango Chiquita Smoothie.  

Here are the ingredients:

• Pineapple concentrate
• Filtered water
• Mango puree
• Peach puree
• White grape juice concentrate
• Natural flavors
• Guar gum for texture
• Ascorbic acid (vitamin C)

They are also dairy and gluten free for those you with intolerance to one of both.  Each can is worth three servings and are only 120 calories.

They taste great and taste even better than the ones I purchase at local businesses in my opinion.  The rich flavor is not over powering and definitely tastes great in the hot summer heat.  It will also be a nice treat when I'm craving something sweet and don't want a lot of calories and with 0 fat, it's a good alternative.  My girls are super picky so they didn't like it but if it doesn't come with a chicken nugget, they are done.

Strawberry Banana Split Smoothie

• 1 can Strawberry Banana Chiquita™ Smoothie
• 1 c. whipped cream
• 5 Tbsp. chocolate syrup
• 4 oz water
• 2 cans of ice

Put all ingredients in blender and blend until smooth!

What's in Your Chicken Nuggets?

Ever wonder what's in the chicken nuggets you serve your children?  I do sometimes and then I quickly think of Gerard Butler or Brad Pitt to ignore those thoughts.  Well, I really don't because I purchase Perdue's chicken nuggets for the all white meat wholesome I expect to get from them.  Their motto even states it:  All White Meat. No Mystery.

As part of SheSpeaks, I had the opportunity to receive a complimentary box of Perdue's Chicken Breast Nuggets that included a very nice silicone cooking tray and coupons.  Even though I'm a regular consumer, I wanted a chance to share my opinion about Perdue via this post.  I prefer cooking with the silicone cooking wear now as I think it cooks all around better and it also seems to prevent burning.


In case you didn't know, Perdue frozen nuggets delivers 100% white meat with no fillers or preservatives.  Since they are baked and not fried, I can be assured my kids are getting a product that meets my demands.  


One of my kid's favorite meals are Perdue Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets served with macaroni and cheese and carrots.  They are never ones to pass up nuggets!  I prefer to cook them in the oven to avoid extra grease from deep frying and they taste just as good as the deep fried ones.  They are easy to fix and handy to keep around in the freezer.
