Beyond Coastal Sunscreen Review & Giveaway 5/31

UPDATE:  I have to contact Rafflecopter because when I went in this morning to pick and announce the winner, the form is missing for this contest.  I will update as soon as they respond as I have never had this happen before.

My girls love the outdoors and I think they get that from me.  I've always been one to prefer being outside than inside or at least until computers became an addiction.  Actually, it's not that addicting as I have no problem turning it off to get some sunshine.  One of our new favorite places we found is a little unknown place in New Mexico called White Sands Monument.  It's gorgeous and beyond words.  It has beautiful white sand dunes nestled near the mountains with abundant sunshine.  It's a mecca for those wanting to capture the beauty and for those wanting to sled down those same dunes.  I have a fair skinned red head so I had to be very careful and not let her burn which is where I definitely had to use sunscreen.  I just happened to recently receive a complimentary supply of various Beyond Coastal products.

The lip balm is amazing!  For some reason, I have had to endure chapped lips a lot along with my oldest daughter.  Nothing was effective in stopping it long term until I started using the Active Lip Balm and now my lips are finally not chapped!

Disney Pixar's New Brave Clip

I was just posting today how much my girls want to see the new Disney Pixar movie Brave and today, a new clip was released.  My girls love the Disney movies especially with the strong female leads such as princesses so I know this will be a huge hit with them.  My middle one is a red head so that is the extra draw for her.  Brave looks like it will be the next blockbuster also judging by some of the FB comments I have received on my personal FB page.  Many of my friends and family are also looking forward to the release.

The lead, Merida, is not only passionate but fiery and headstrong.  As a teen bgought up in royalty, she's fierce in the area she's most comfortable in which is the great outdoors.  With her faithful horse, Angus, she's a force to be reckoned with.  Merida does have a soft side which is shown towards her triplet brothers.  Her mother, Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson) and her father, King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) try their best to guide her. In spite of them, she pursues an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land.  

If you are like me and my kids, you want to see the whole story!  Sounds captivating doesn't it?

TOS Crew Review: Go Science Review

I'm still relatively new at homeschooling and have struggled with trying to find the right resources that will not only teach but captivate my children in wanting to learn more.  My middle one is very interested in science and math which is why I strive to find that instructional that will supplement, engage and entertain while encouraging them to learn more.  Library & Educational Services (L.E.S.) is a small, family oriented distributor for resellers, schools, churches, missionaries, licensed daycare centers and libraries.  They also have been in business around 35 years which tells me they know their business.  What is also nice, they provide their wholesale discount to homeschools.  

 

I was provided an opportunity to review Go Science Volume 3 Magnetism Engineering and Electricity Design along with Go Science Volume 6 Water Space Solar System.


Go Science Volume 3 Magnetism Engineering and Electricity Design


Go Science Volume 3 Magnetism Engineering and Electricity Design provided an interest mostly due to magnetic power the girls have expressed.  Ben Roy, teaches at University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, expresses a captivating and motivating approach to teach science.  I also liked how Mr. Roy utilizes our Creator in his talking points as I want my girls to fully understand this is all possible to our beliefs.  There is such a huge emphasis to deny such amazing creations from nature and science so this was definitely a big plus for me.


The DVD is 45 minutes long and is recommended for ages 6 to 14.  The topics are broken down into individual segments that include an experiment and are filmed in front of a live audience.  I find that having children included in the segments encourages my children to want to participate as well.  Children love children so this I think is a huge pro for the series.  


The other big pro we enjoyed are they are not long and tedious.  The experiments are easy to follow and exciting to keep their attention.  They don't go into too much detail into the how's or why's but that was perfect for my children as they were intrigued with the hands on activity and watching the outcome.


Go Science Volume 6 Water Space Solar System


Go Science Volume 6 Water Space Solar System is also taught in front of a live audience with children actively engaged and participating.  This DVD is 37 minutes long and is also broken down to smaller segments which kept my girls interest.  Also taught by Mr. Roy, they enjoyed his teaching style and so did I.  Given their interest in the solar system, this was a no brainer for me to choose to review.  


The only main con I have is I would like to have a pre-message or a list of supplies to gather to run the experiments.  I think having this ahead of time, would simplify the process to start your own experiments.  They were so excited to watch these and to start but I had to make sure I had the items necessarily.


Overall, it's a great resource to supplement a home school curriculum.  It's also a great supplement for those children in a non-home school environment.  It's engaging, it's fun and it's educational.

Did She or Didn't She? Chuck: The Complete Fifth Season

Are you a Chuck fan?  If so, you probably watched the season finale from the fifth season and were left wondering if Sarah regained her memory or not.  Earlier in the episode after everyone said their goodbyes and Chuck thought about the past and moved forward, he found himself having a conversation with Morgan.  Morgan encouraged him to pursue his love and perhaps something as a simple kiss would be the weapon to bring back lost memories.  Later, on a beach along side Sarah, he tells Sarah about his conversation.  Sarah asks about their life together and after he tells her, she asked for a kiss and the scene turns black.  


Did she get her memory back?  Was Morgan's theory correct?  We don't know but we can only guess.  For myself, I'm left believing in the love component and after he kissed her, her memories come back slow but faster later so they can return to the life they knew of being in love.  Too optimistic?  Not sure but I get to write the ending and so do you!  What do you think?

It's getting closer to summer and I cannot wait!  I am a sun person and love to lay out in the sun.  I also travel sometimes a lot and want to take to the beach or pool.  One of the problems I have with bathing suits, especially bikinis, are the tops are never big enough.  I know, wahhh, right?  Actually, for us women who are top heavy, not all of us want to flaunt it which is why finding the perfect large busted swimwear is hard.  When I was given the opportunity to review a suit from Guria Beachwear, I was definitely interested after looking at the selection of swimwear.  Guria Beachwear specializes in Brazilian swimsuits.

For my review, I received the Moonlight 3-in-1 Chic Top and the Foldover Bottoms.  The top truly fit as I wanted it to and provided full coverage without top areas hanging over.  The bottoms were perfect with the foldover section as those of us with a C-section can appreciate that.  The material is thick, soft and comfortable.  The accents on the Chic Top add to the elegance of the suit and provided perfect coverage since it's fully lined.  What I also like are the cups are removable as with other suits, they shift making the top a little unsightly.  The bottom allows you to wear it low or higher pending personal preference and provides a slimming quality.  I was extremely pleased with the quality and the coverage and would definitely recommend.  Since they come in sizes ranging from 0 to x-large, they have most everyone covered.

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Couponing Review & Giveaway 5/26 (US & Canada)

I have used coupons in the past and use them hit or miss now.  I sort of gave up on them because of the push back I get when I use them primarily at Walmart.  When I lived in Georgia, I used them all the time at Publix because they were just friendly and didn't give you a hard time when you did present a stack of them.  Since I moved away and was frequently only shopping at Albertson's and Walmart, I stopped being so diligent.  I used to have these fun challenges with my oldest to see if we could walk away with at least a 50% savings and we always did at Publix.  If you watched that Extreme Couponing show, you might have had mixed feelings as I know I did.  I always thought how greedy they were by clearing shelves, taking all the in-store coupons and how they might ruin couponing once businesses started to see how they abused the system.  Fortunately, I will believe that the majority of couponers are honest and don't pull the antics you see on TV.  I think people watch those and want to save like they do and find it's too hard and give up.  There is a skill or a know how on how to achieve great savings which is where I was able to review The Complete Idiot's Guide to Couponing by Rachel Singer Gordon and compare how we did business.


This book is excellent for the beginning and the intermediate couponer.  Fortunately, I have had time to learn the in's and out's so the book reinforced that I was on target and who doesn't want to hear you have it spot on?  It's a basic, easy to follow book on how to get ready for using coupons, how to maximize your time and savings and how to move forward with the system.  There are four logical parts with sub chapters to easily find what you are looking for.  Not only are traditional shops covered but so are drug stores.  If you are a beginning, you can save a lot of money with drug store deals which Rachel covers thoroughly.  She also includes Head's Up and Tips and Tricks mixed in with the chapters to provide additional information.  She also covers blogs which are extreme time savers!  There are some pretty good bloggers who will provide match ups and tell you where the deals are with quick print links to coupons.  They really have made it easy to save big.


The biggest part to knowing where to get coupons and how to match them with deals is organization and Rachel covers that to include difficult situations such as lack of space.  It's a well put together book that will enable anyone to start couponing and saving money quickly.
